If I had to describe my life and my boyfriend portrayed in the domestic animal kingdom realm, I’d say he’s the cat and I’m the annoyingly cute puppy begging for attention.
It is what it is. And I have to say it like it is.
But seriously, where do I even get these thoughts?
One moment you’re reading about baking soda and vinegar and their cleaning superpowers and the next, ploop new idea. And somehow that triggers the next thought saying, “you should write a post about this.” Weird thing, you actually do it.
He’s the cat.
Now, I don’t know much about cats. Haven’t been a cat person ever since all our 6 cats suddenly went missing. I think my parents got rid of them, or maybe it is true the Coyotes did get to them. I’ll never know…but I’ve been around cat owners and I’ve seen how hostile their “pets” are.
They don’t like to be pet. Or is it rarely? I’ve only seen it done once or twice. That’s the boyfriend right there. Not that I tried petting him, but he’s not so fond of all the affection I want to shower him with. It’s not so bad, really, unless I really want that attention affection.
I’m telling you, I’m the annoyingly cute puppy. I think most of the times he might see me as annoying and not so cute. But it’s okay. He puts up with me. Even when it feels he’s being distant. He could legit be inches away and I’ll “complain” he’s being distant. I can see how that could get annoying. No worries, it’s not always this way. I make sure to give him his space too. Because I sure know, I need it a lot at times too.
Which is where sometimes he’s a cat in that sense, too. You know when you’re just there sitting enjoying a movie. He could be in the kitchen and you’re relaxed enjoying your you time. Being okay with not being affectionate, that’s when all of a sudden he gets the strongest urge to just pounce on my lap. Okay, he doesn’t really pounce on my lap, but if he were a cat, that’s exactly what I can equate it to. He’s just like a cat who comes and then when you try and be affectionate in return decides to jump off.
It’s pretty cool though. Sometimes he’s the puppy and other times I’m the cat that just wants to be alone. We can be both. But most often, I’m the puppy he’s the cat. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
